This month’s mural highlights one of the largest nonprofit social service agencies in our area: The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Since 1917, the organization has worked to aid people in need, regardless of religious belief, ethnicity or background. Now, it still operates with that deeply rooted mission to provide food, shelter, counseling and services to more than 1 million people a year.
The current mural artwork reflects the organization’s mission of giving and ties in the spirit of the holiday season in a fun way. Each side of the mural depicts a gift: hope, peace and joy. These are gifts that may be overlooked, but can be more valuable than what money can buy. The Catholic Charities continue to work to give back these special gifts, along with many others, to the most deserving in our city.
